Solas Announces All These Years
Solas Announces All These Years album and tour for 2016
Introduces Newest Member, Vocalist Moira Smiley
2016 marks the 20th Anniversary of the quintessential Irish-American band, Solas. To celebrate the occasion the band has recorded a new album entitled All These Years to be released in early 2016, which includes members of the band from across the years and features its newest member, the dynamic Moira Smiley on vocals and banjo. All These Years – 20th Anniversary Tour starts in January at Celtic Connections in Glasgow Scotland.
Formed in 1996, in a manner befitting their name (Gaelic for "light”), Solas burst onto the Irish music scene and instantly became a beacon – an incandescent ensemble that found contemporary relevance in timeless traditions. Anchored by founding members Seamus Egan (flute, tenor banjo, mandolin, whistles, guitars, bodhran) and Winifred Horan (violins, vocals), who form the backbone of the uniquely definable Solas sound, long time members Eamon McElholm (guitars, keyboards, vocals), and Mick McAuley (button accordion, vocals) and newest member, Moira Smiley (vocals, banjo), round out the current stellar line up. At 20 years, Solas is musically at the top of their game and continues to be the standard bearer not only for great Irish music, but great music in any genre.

All These Years – All New Material Recording.
As an album, ALL THESES YEARS, reunites the past with the present. Bringing together all the members of the band from the past 20 years, it's a tour de force portrait of a band not content to dwell in nostalgia. Asked to describe the concept behind the album, Seamus Egan says, " we really didn't want to revisit material from the past and make a 'best of' album. I felt it could be interesting to record new music with the various lineups we've had over the years. Each had their own personality and I think listening from track to track that will come through. It was great fun getting back together with everyone to make music again." Going back to the earliest days of the band, the album features, Karan Casey, John Doyle, and John Williams, who along with Winifred and Seamus, comprised the original lineup. Also featured on vocals, Moira Smiley, Deirdre Scanlan, Niamh Varian Barry, Noriana Kennedy, and Mairead Phelan. On guitars, bouzouki and piano, and backing vocals, Eamon McElholm and Donal Clancy. On bass, Trevor Hutchinson and Chico Huff. On button accordion and backing vocals, Mick McAuley and Johnny B. Connolly.
