Paul Brady to be featured on BBC's "CeiliÃºradh" (Celebration) program
As part of President Higgins’ State Visit to Britain, a concert “Ceiliúradh” (Celebration) will be held in the Royal Albert Hall on 10th of April and will be attended by President and Sabina Higgins and HRH Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.
Given the historic nature of the visit and its significance to the Irish community in Britain in particular, but also around the world, arrangements have been made to broadcast the event and to make available beyond those who have been lucky enough to secure tickets.
The event will be streamed live on RTÉ Player (available worldwide) from 20:25 GMT +1 on 10th of April. The concert will also be broadcast live on RTÉ Radio 1 (including on-line). In addition, RTÉ 1 will present a 2 hour programme on the concert from 22.15 also on the night (10th of April) and this programme will subsequently be available internationally on the RTÉ Player. The BBC will present an hour long highlights programme, “Ultimate Irish Music at the Royal Albert Hall: A Presidential Celebration” on BBC 4 at 8pm on Sunday, 13th of April.
“A unique and intimate evening of shared stories, music, song and dance”, this concert will be the cultural highlight of the visit and “will showcase the strong artistic and creative links that exist between Ireland and the United Kingdom, as well as recognising the significant contribution of the Irish community in Britain”
